POSITION:               Director of Community Impact

REPORTS TO:          United Way of Calvert County President & CEO

STATUS:                   Full Time, 35 Hours

 

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  The Director of Community Impact is responsible for representing United Way of Calvert County in a positive manner as a collaborative partner in the community.  Key responsibilities include providing oversight and management for all grants and acting as direct liasion to United Way agencies, promoting strong relations and providing technical support.  The Director of Community Impact provides ongoing communication to the public as well as coordination for volunteers.

  • Grant writing and management skills
  • Program evaluation experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Public relations and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and promote and support the goals and objectives of UWCC
  • Knowledgeable and efficient with computers and a variety of programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Community Force grant management software, Constant Contact, template-based websites, and digital fundraising solutions
  • Self-starter
  • Strong organizational and motivational skills
  • Ability to multi-task; flexible

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

BS in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field; three years' experience in human services related field

Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Functional Area: Community Development

  • Promote strong UWCC relations with agencies through positive communication and attendance at appropriate meetings and events
  • Provide support to United Way agencies as assigned including: communication, data collection and review,  and training
  • Manage impact councils to execute strategic goals of organization
  • Assist CEO and board with the development and execution of a needs assessment periodically to address critical needs.
  • Confer with CEO regarding agency concerns and requests and make professional recommendation for action to address their needs
  • Research and secure grant funding to support Community Impact & Basic Needs Funds

 

 

Functional Area: Marketing/Public Relations

  • Input all pledges and receivables for multiple campaigns, maintain accounts including contact information and history, and bill donors as needed
  • Manage communication pieces through print and digital media
  • Manage the website (template based)
  • Develop campaign materials to be distributed on an annual basis, including brochures, flyers, and presentation board items
  • Attend outreach activities and special events to promote
    United Way
    community involvement, including public speaking, and coordination of public school campaign

 

 

Functional Area: Volunteer Coordination & Special Events

  • Answer phones, greet and direct visitors, and provide any assistance as needed
  • Connect volunteers to meaningful volunteer opportunities at United Way and UW agencies as appropriate
  • Recruit and manage volunteers to support special events
  • Work in coordination with staff and board to support special events

POSITION:               Director of Operations

REPORTS TO:          United Way of Calvert County President & CEO

STATUS:                   Full Time, 35 Hours

 

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  The Director of Operations is responsible for managing business operations for United Way of Calvert County. Key responsibilities include managing the campaign data management system, administrative office support activities, and special projects as assigned to ensure the operational well-being of the organization.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, multitask, and think creatively with proven ability to establish priorities and problem solve
  • Ability to perform office-related tasks and maintain required office equipment including phones, copy machine, and computer equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experienced in providing customer service support
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team to promote and support the goals and mission of UWCC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • QuickBooks and CRM knowledge highly preferred

Functional Area: Financial Management

  • Support UWCC Director of Finance in maintaining financial files and bank accounts
  • Manage all vendor accounts including research, invoicing, recording, processing checks, and balancing
  • Enter deposits, provide transaction history and check register

 

Functional Area: Campaign Data Management

  • Input all pledges and receivables for multiple campaigns, maintain accounts including contact information and history, and bill donors as needed
  • Maintain and manage all designation information and issues as related; provide designation reports as requested
  • Prepare monthly campaign reports for UWCC Board of Directors
  • Perform reconciliation between financial and campaign programs and provide reports
  • Prepare all pertinent documentation and reports with United Way Worldwide, the State of Maryland, the Combined Federal Campaign and other affiliated organizations

 

Functional Area: Administrative

  • Answer phones, greet and direct visitors, and provide any assistance as needed
  • Sort, log, and disperse all mail
  • Maintain systematic filing system
  • Handle all correspondence, thank you letters, mailing lists, and bulk mailings as assigned; Provide support to staff in the production of any additional mailings
  • Assist in various United Way meeting preparations; take board meeting notes, prepare and distribute documents for board meeting in an orderly and timely fashion

 

Functional Area: Office Maintenance

  • Maintain office equipment; Research best practices and make recommendations on purchases
  • Monitor office and house supplies and make purchases as needed
  • Monitor building usage and make sure opening and closing procedures are being followed by all UWCC staff and guests

 

Functional Areas: Special Projects and Events

  • Act as lead for Day of Caring, coordinating over 200 volunteers annually
  • Assist with preparations for all special event activities
